There is no LT Model 870, only in Model 1100s. Easiest way to tell is by serial number suffix: X ...The receiver is marked Remington "Wingmaster". The barrel is marked "20 GA Magnum for 3" Shells". Is this barrel not original to the gun and am I risking damage shooting 3" shells? 2. I have a 12 ga 870 Express that I bought new in 1989. It shoots 2-3/4" & 3" shells. There have been changes over the years, and certain types of barrels (especially LE/military vs. civilian parts) may be marked differently even if they were made around the same time.
